Fantastic little ficlets. Truly evocative of autumn and boys falling in love. I don't know if they're technically a series, but they seem to belong together.

I love the realism in this ficlet. It holds the impact of war; the tension and the fear. And it's just stark and lovely writing.

Sirius and Remus meet at a diner to discuss their future. I enjoyed this version of Sirius; kind of hopeful and vulnerable but still with the underlying layer of arrogance and foolishness. And the ending was so rightly bittersweet. Really good.

Arpeggio *** discovery At Hogwarts

An interesting take on Sirius's past and what he might have been like when he first came to Hogwarts. And how Remus fit into the picture. I just enjoy Pru's writing style, and her feel for believable boy dialogue. Good little fic. And it features a musical instrument, and you can never go wrong there. *lol*


Gasp *** established Post Hogwarts

This fic is a combination of all my favorite SB/RL elements and character foibles. This fic just illustrates how well Sirius and Remus complement each other. And of course, as a fic by Pru, it's very funny. Go, enjoy.


Seven Things That Didn't Happen On Valentine's Day At Hogwarts, Or Maybe They Did *** discovery At Hogwarts

One of the most hysterical concepts ever. Pranks instead of chocolates on Valentine's Day, each year building on the last. It culminates in 5th year, with a prank to end all pranks. This one makes me laugh out loud every time I read it. And it's got great romantic Sirius/Remus moments to put icing on the cake. Then Pru will crush your heart and make you cry with year 6. Just like real life romance. Good to bad in a heartbeat. Love this fic.

An interesting decision by the author in creating character detail. That Remus might not be able to see color, that he would wonder what pink looked like. And how important scent is to him. Very intriguing stuff.

I like this fic a lot, I've read it a bunch of times. It's part of a series of connected fics. All four have weather themes but you don't have to read the others to understand the one. I love the Sirius in this fic, I don't blame Remus at all for wanting him. It's poignant and a bit moody but it leaves you with good feelings. Very good plot device here and Raina writes it wonderfully. Quick quote:

Remus - "So you're saying I'm not sweet as sugar?"
Sirius - "I always thought you'd be."

A fic about the Marauder's Map and the dynamics of MWPP. Done in flashbacks from Remus's POV circa post OotP. The cross hatch of Remus's memories of the good times against what his life is like after Sirius is so beautifully done, woven together perfectly. There's just a somber, pained air about the whole fic; Remus's misery leaking through the words. It's great.

The first part of this fic is just crippling in it's beauty. The writing is so strong and vivid. The tone is dark but not overwhelmingly so. And the imagery sticks with you, which is a mark of a great story. Plus I love that the title has so little to do with the actual plot line, but still makes so much sense in terms of the theme.

Brief snippets of Sirius's years at Hogwarts; his relationships (especially with Remus) at the forefront. Great characterizations, snappy dialogue. Quality overall.

There's just something about collar! fic in the MWPP era that just doesn't get boring for me. It's always sexy. Especially in terms of the power relations between Sirius and Remus - yum. Plus it's quite a funny little fic with great dialogue.

Hot and sweet. I love how Sirius decides to make his move with an escape plan, just in case. Did I mention it was hot?

You'll be able to almost feel Sirius's longing and burgeoning hope radiating from the fics. And it only gets better. The first 2 are Counting the Reasons (RL/LE, JP/SB) and Learning to Fight (JP/SB). Heartbreaking. Beautifully painful to read. Sirius is so vulnerable and just ruined by the end of his relationship with James. But he still has Remus...


Outlined Joys ** discovery Post Hogwarts

A fix for the sugar addict in me. (Meaning - it's sweet.) The way the gang bands together to get Remus the things he needs without damaging his pride. And it's too cute how a birthday present brings Sirius and Remus together. (P.S. The shopping scenes are hilarious.)


The Moon's Significant Tremble *** discovery, first time AU

Since it's AU, this fic probably doesn't belong on this list. Especially since this is extremely AU - what if R/S hadn't met at school, what if they were muggles. But it's gorgeous and true to character despite the setting of the story. And I loved it.


Thine is the Kingdom ** established Post Hogwarts

January through December with SB/RL. It's a lovely fic, sharing the ups and the downs of a year. The lyricism of some of the descriptions she uses are fantastic slices of writing.


Waking Up ** established Post Hogwarts

A sleepy, morining time look at the R/S relationship. Both cute and sexy, with really great character details.

What an idea. What a perfect, gorgeous, genius idea. And the author just goes with it, never falters on a single point. It all makes SENSE, in capital letters. What everyone writes, how Remus feels about it. It all fits together. A fabulous bit of writing.

Sirius will do anything to prove that he is Remus's friend. Including dating -- another guy. Features a lot of *ahem*... quality time between Sirius and an OMC, but it's really an interesting plot. Worth a read.

It's a quick read and a sweet one. Basically, Sirius and Remus realize what was right in front of them while hiding from Filch. Funny Filch characterization.

I think I've rec'd every SB/RL fic that Laura Smith has. Oh well. I'm a fan.


Darkness Falls ** discovery, first time Post Hogwarts

Sirius and Remus, together in a storage room during a power outage. All of Laura's fics have this feeling of urgency between the characters, which I really enjoy. This fic is so easily sensual, it just slides right into it. But like all good PWPs, "Darkness Falls" has enough comedy, enough believability, and enough steamy make-outs to satisfy everyone.


Dream ** discovery, first time At Hogwarts

Sirius tries to distract Remus when strange dreams keep him from sleeping. Just stunningly sexy. And their conversation about what Sirius thinks Remus was dreaming of: hilarious! Quality fic.


Grand Facade *** discovery, first time Post Hogwarts

One of the most interesting plots I've seen in recent memory. I love the SB/RL relationship in this fic; the build-up, the seduction to the inevitable sex scene. It's all fantastically put together. Extremely well-written, and a completely fabulous fic.


Means of Seduction ** established Post Hogwarts

Seduction lessons. The dialogue between Sirius and Remus is perfect. A playful and erotic ficlet.


Morning After ** discovery, the prank At Hogwarts

This one begins with a somewhat disturbing look at Remus the morning after a full moon. He and Sirius finally work out their issues pertaining to the prank. It's a little dark, a little depressing, and a very sharp look at a possible reason for Sirius's betrayal.


Sleep and Watch ** discovery At Hogwarts

These two fics are connected. The first is Sirius's POV, the second is Remus. What's great about these little fics is the feeling of voyeurism. You really feel like you're watching them as they watch each other. Good for those who like their SB/RL a little kinky. (And who doesn't, really?)


Tattoo You ** established Post Hogwarts

I love this kind of universe, where the norms of R/S fiction are thrown aside. Remus is now the one who's vaguely straight and in control instead of Sirius. It's hot, and of course anything that deals with leashes and tattoos is going to be sexy.

Remus has a boyfriend. For some reason Sirius is jealous. I wonder what that means? This fic is really touching. (P.S. it's also smoking hot. WOW.)

Stark and moving. Hopeful, right up to the end, even when it seems pointless. Lovely. Some people complain about pretensious lack of capitalization, but I like it. I don't know if it means anything in terms of the story, but it works well as an art form.

I love the truly descriptive language of fic, when it's just bordering on poetry. That's what this fic is like. Free-flowing and gorgeous. All about the imagery and emotion of Sirius and Remus in bed together.

Another Chance ** first time, the prank At Hogwarts

This is a short fic but it definitely packs a punch. A look at how convoluted the S/R relationship might have become in the aftermath of the prank. The lines between hate and love become blurry. A very cleverly done fic.


Afternoon Showers, Chance of Rain *** discovery At Hogwarts

Stellamaru calls this fic the missing shower scene from "Another Chance." It's Sirius's POV on his developing feelings for Remus. It also has boys wanking. Happy reading.

This is a well-written, sexy fic. Another example of why I love PWPs. The hotness.

Boy Talk ** discovery, first time At Hogwarts

Virgin!Sirius. One of my all time favorite characterizations. And this is a fantastic Remus; sly and semi-aggressive, a change from the usual bookish and passive. But entirely believable. Great plot line.



Thistlerose (thistlerose )

Christmas, 1977 ** established At Hogwarts

Remus and Sirius spend Christmas together in Sirius's new flat. And while this fic was very romantic and funny what I enjoyed the most about it was how careful Remus was being about his relationship with Sirius. He loves him and he wants to trust him but there's a small part of him that's just waiting for Sirius to betray him again. Lovely look at the characters and their complexities.


Midnight Conversations #6 ** established Post Hogwarts

As the title suggests, this fic is a conversation between Remus and Sirius. About the past and the future. Remus a bit unsure and Sirius completely giving himself over. Hopeful and lovely.


The Between Time *** established At Hogwarts

I like the Sirius in this fic. Repentant but not quite sure how to show it, not quite sure if he deserves to be forgiven post Prank. Great as a character study. Also works fairly well as a hot piece of porn.


This One's For You *** established Post Hogwarts

What I love about good R/S fics set Post Hogwarts is when you can see the undercurrent of upcoming events. The fic doesn't have to be angsty and I wouldn't say that this one is, not really. Sirius writes Remus a love song. But there's still the depth of history and the threat of the future in the fic, which I enjoyed a lot.


Three Weeks Outside Time ** discovery At Hogwarts

This one isn't explicitly Sirius and Remus. It's all about how Sirius came to the realization that not only is he gay but he's also in love with one of his best friends. And that's only the beginning of his troubles. I like how Thistlerose doesn't try to make it easy for them, because most likely it wouldn't be. And the fact that the writing is expressive and flowing makes the story even better.

This fic is the first of a series. Next is Tread Softly, then on to Consequences, then there's No Return, and finally you have Falling for the First Time. All worthy of a read as well.

Assigning Blame *** discovery At Hogwarts

A potion mishap makes Sirius and Remus allergic to each other. And if that description isn't enough to make you run to read the fic, here's more incentive. The writing has got all the snarky intelligence you could ever want. I love the way the characters dance around each other and what the real problem in their relationship is. Quick quote:

"Get over it, Sirius!" James was yelling, when Remus got back to the dorm. "You aren't making anything better by ignoring him!"
"I'm making myself better," Sirius said angrily. Remus could hear it through the door.
"That's because you get your bloody guilty conscience only when you see him!"
"No," Sirius said tersely, "it's because I want to rip my fucking sinuses out whenever he's around. I--" he sneezed "-- I can't even breathe when he's in the room."

So good. Love it!


Charms, and Their Forgetting (The Two and Four Remix) ** discovery At Hogwarts

This fic was a remix of Cate's fic Charms, and their Forgetting.

What I love about V's fic is that it takes Cate's idea and builds a history for it. The two make so much sense together. And V instills her own sense of humor and personality into the story, making it a completely perfect prequel. Very sweet and funny writing.


Damning With Faint Praise ** discovery At Hogwarts

V is very good at working humor into her MWPP and the topic of this fic was made for laughs. Her Remus and Sirius are sarcastic and smart, which is how they should be. I just enjoy her style of writing. Quick-paced and smooth. This fic will make you smile.


Duster This is just a drabble so I'm not going to rate it. But it's a quality drabble. Lyrical and beautiful and very... true.

The reason I love this fic is because of how Sirius is portrayed. I love him in this story. Weak and strong at the same time, loyal and protective. Then of course, there is the hot love scene in an unlikely venue. Great stuff.


Always Like This *** discovery, first time Post Hogwarts

For a straight man, Sam writes AWESOME SB/RL fics. Aside from his writing style, which I obviously love, this fic also has some great plot elements. I adore how and why Sirius and Remus get together, especially this line - quick quote:

"You like girls, Sirius?" Remus asked softly. Sirius nuzzled his cheek.
"I like you, Moony," he answered.

Marvel at the wonder of this fic.


Drabble

A simple little drabble, exploring Sirius's sexuality in 100 words. I really like the point that I think Sam was trying to get across with this. That love is love no matter where it comes from.


Figuring ** first time, established At Hogwarts

What do I like about "Figuring"? Basically, I love the idea that Remus might be a little naive and confused by his feelings for Sirius. And the idea that he would go to James for advice - giggles galore! Good stuff here.


Pilgrimage *** discovery, first time Post Hogwarts

I hadn't realized the lack of MWPP road trip fics until I read "Pilgrimage". And this one was so good that it made me want more. Obviously Sam ingrained this fic with the humor and the sexuality that we've come to expect from his work. One of his best, IMO.


The Ritual *** established At Hogwarts

Smut. Really great smut. And what I like about the intro to the sexiness, is the way Sam describes the lengths that Sirius and Remus go to in order to keep their relationship a secret, to keep their privacy. Sam is so marvelously particular in his fics. They're all so well thought out. I love that.


Turnabout's Fair Play pt. 1 and Turnabout's Fair Play pt. 2 *** discovery, first time Post Hogwarts

Sirius loves to cause trouble for his friends and watch them panic. That is such a great Sirius characterization from Sam, I loved it. Once again, another well-written fic from this author. Sexy, funny, and smart; just the way I like my SB/RL.

The importance of beds in any romantic endeavor is discussed. Smart, funny, sexy, detailed, and of course, well -written. And what they say to each other in bed is so freaking romantic and hot, I may have been spoiled for life. Nothing else will ever compare. *smiles* Enjoyed this one.

This is one of the staple motifs in SB/RL fics. The potion gone wrong. And man, do I love it. Remus trying to deny what he's feeling and Sirius not making it easy on him. Wonderful.

Dark and hopeless. Set after Regulus dies, neither Sirius nor Remus are able to articulate what they want. And more importantly, they're both afraid to get what they want. A bit cliched, but well-written.

Straight boys having gay sex is how the author describes this fic. An intriguing concept all on it's own but there's more. It's also a terrific comedy piece, with really strong writing.

A morning after fic. Remus has to decide whether to stay or go. This is just a funny, funny fic. The one-liners are so in character... It'll make you laugh. Quick quote:

"He can't focus with Sirius scratching his head and looking endearing and mischievous, and they slept together last night. Didn't he have something he had to do?"

Read and enjoy.


The Curious Incident of the Dog in Daylight ** the prank At Hogwarts

The aftermath of the Whomping Willow prank is such a goldmine of emotional drama for fic writers and Zahra really takes advantage of all it has to offer. The subtle feeling that Remus was expecting it all along but still can't help but be surprised. And his dialogue with Sirius about... everything is just fantastic.


The Fairytale Way ** established At Hogwarts

Sirius thinks about fairytales and convention. I loved the concept of this fic, that Sirius would compare his life to that of a fairytale Prince Charming. And then worry that maybe he's doing things all wrong. The style this fic is written in is so unique... It's just a really good fic.
